Excellent advice Matt. Thank you for sharing. My only add would be that any time a “new platform” comes on the horizon “grab your name-handle.” To your point, might not every use BUT you want to own your name “just in case.”
I like the advice as well, but your comment reminds me of some thoughts I had bouncing around. I’m a little stuck Regarding “do stuff you enjoy” 🙃
I’m considering an interview style podcast down the road when my Substack routine is cemented and audience is more stable. I enjoyed recording some test episodes and I love the conversations, but I can’t stand editing - it’s soooo boring for me…
Ideas? Worth doing or nah? Ways to mitigate the pain?
I’m not sure because I so much like one aspect and so much dislike the other aspect…
Up to this year I preached the same thing: Focus, don't spread yourself thin. And my basic advice was focus on either blog, podcast or YouTube and one or two social media platforms. But with the growing popularity of AI search this won't work much longer.

agreed
This. It’s how I’ve got my name on every platform (except Tik Tok because I forgot so I had to settle for a ‘-‘! 🤣)
I loved reading this.
Especially the "commit to a hundred" part and the "do stuff you actually enjoy".
glad it resonated :)

My main takeaways here:
1) Go where the desired target audience hangs out AND
2) Create content consistently where the format suits you (writing for you and me, Matt)
Once I committed to posting a series of 6 weekly LinkedIn posts about Social Selling - I just forgot to stop. Today I posted episode 336…
Sounds like a plan! Love the analogy of preparing a fire by throwing many logs in. And the French-speaking dog ;D

Yes!
True! Slow, steady as she goes.
