Thank you Matt, you confirmed my gut feeling. I'm so tired of all this spam about monetize, growth formulas, etc. etc. I came here just to share my story and try and help others on the path. Now all this noise in my face every time I open substack. Less is more, that works for me. Thanks again.

I see you’ve come for my pre-sell strategy today! 🤣 We should do a video together so you can roast my entire message and rip the band aid off the last remnants of my ego and be done with it hehe 🤣😍

Thanks for this. I find the best content needs to be shared widely. Holding it hostage behind a paid subscription doesn't do it justice. Perhaps a donate or thank with money button is in order?

Whew! I love this!! I have been stubbornly ignoring all the monetize crap! I got tired of that on FB, tiktok, etc! I do what I want to do, how and when-just giving me. I fell for the chase and I became exhausted and anxious. I’m done with that! 🙅🏽‍♀️. I’m here for the audience, making the connection to add value and go from there✌️

Have to agree with everything you've said. I don't paywall anything, and as a matter of fact, don't even have paid subscribers. I just didn't feel comfortable asking people to pay when I don't know what to give them. (Still don't.) My subscriber list grows, but I think snails move faster. It's not enough to make me give up, and I'm still happy to continue on (for now). I'm hoping there's a reason for my doing this, and at some point it will become clear, but at the moment, it's just something I do. And have built up some friendships because of. So that's valuable.

When I first launched, I got caught in the "how fast can I monetize?" trap.

Then I realized: I didn’t even know who my audience was yet.

Now I’m focused on earning trust, not transactions.

Reach first. What comes after is a bonus.

Thanks for keeping it real.

I use my nw Substack as a lead generator to my consulting and coaching services. I'm a business strategist and coach first, and a designer and community moderator second.

Such wisdom here Matt. The math just doesn’t math for all those people trying to make a living from paid subscriptions.
