I've barly made anything from any of my writings on Medium and haven't pushed my content enough here to earn it. Substack feels better but not sure if I like the notes side of it. It's starting to feel a lot like a social media site so it's hard to get things out with eyes on them sometimes.
Being new to Substack and never having written on Medium, this is obviously an encouraging article for me. But I appreciate you giving credit where it's due. I plan on taking full advantage of these next 12 or so months we get here where organic growth is still possible. Always fearful of the next throttling!
I wish Medium would go back to the way it was when I first joined. I really like it there. I actually like it better than Substack. (It's just easier to use.) But, it is getting harder to be seen over there. Especially in the make money online space. It's a dilemma for me!
Spot on what you said Matt. I've been neglecting Substack recently for no good reason. I do plan to change things since I have to make most of this period. As you say it won't last.
I still earn $1000/month on Medium + get 400 email subs/month.
But I fear my days are numbered.
Which is why I've added Substack to my portfolio
Keep crushing it Derek!
Case in point, platforms will continue to evolve so we need to build our email lists so we're not dependent on the evolving door of platforms.

all the best to you, Charlie
Sorry, I don’t think so. They’re seeking more platforms to gain more exposure & to keep their options open.
It’s okay to disagree
Cheers
Love the addition of audio with Google Illuminate.
Are you just putting them article into NotebookLM or uploading a custom doc?
Glad you do!
This feature is a banger.
My dirty workflow so far :
Export Article to PDF -> Import to Notebook -> Generate

1,000% agree.
Who knows what the future deserves.
That’s why I still keep posting there.
Medium was a ghost town for me. Substack has been amazing.
glad it’s working for ya
Room for writing on both platforms if the creator has bandwidth
yes
Medium has become a magazine with a precise editorial direction. But it doesn't disclose it.
Thanks for mentioning me. I am in another "throttled niche", too. And nominators confirmed it.
ahoy!
Same here…medium reach is in the toilet, I have 6000 followers but less than 100 seen my articles ..an article with 78% read ratio … $2.11
On the other hand it’s free money as I use medium to warm up my “writing muscles” and test content ideas
Yep that’s why I’m still publishing there
Thanks for dropping your thoughts Mark
I'm one of them too :)
Ahoy!
Neat graphic style Matt.
