You spit out the truth of the whole solopreneurship game, Matt. Kudos for you to put it out how the reality is. Not a lot of them are willing to admit it.
This was such a great read. Relatable, enlightening and all in my business. I have felt and experienced the majority of these things. Thanks for sharing and letting me know I'm not alone on this wild and crazy ride.
You dropped so many gems—but these three hit home:
1. “There’s no manager to say ‘That can wait.’ No team to hand things off to. So your brain stays stuck in go mode.”
Oof. That one stings because it’s painfully true. As a solopreneur, you’re basically running 10–15 departments on your own—marketing, sales, customer service, accounting... all of it. I'd love to offload half of it, but here we are.
2. Traditional jobs pay for time. Now, it’s all about results.
Exactly. In a 9–5, even if your paid or social campaign flops, the paycheck still lands—until it doesn’t. A layoff hits, and suddenly you're scrambling to find your next gig, calculating how long your savings or investments can float you. When you're solo? There’s no cushion. No fallback. No one’s swooping in to save you if your launch tanks.
3. No matter how successful you are, there's always someone more successful.
So true—and honestly, the endless photos of BMWs, Lambos, and “look at my lifestyle” posts? They’ve lost their punch. Congrats, you're pulling in $25K+ a month and bought a flashy car. Cool. But those posts do nothing for me. What does move the needle? The rare “how I did it” breakdowns. But those are few and far between—because most solopreneurs are too busy selling the dream to show the real blueprint, which is sold as a coaching package or a course, understandably
you’re very right Matt and some of my children tried telling me that because some have people online that they’re associated with and I wouldn’t listen I thought for sure I could go and help people in the world, but that’s just not the case so I am sorry that I won’t be paying you either unless I get rich very quickly and then I double pay you thank you for everything Lisa
Wow.. that hit home!! Thanks for sharing and keeping it real.
Glad it resonated

Respect. 🫡
Thx Mario
Comparison and self-judgement are the worst. The only thing worse would be going back to a “real” job after 15 years solo
haha so true
It does show you the otherside of the coin
yes

Great take. I covered a similar angle — just a day before your piece dropped: https://theredpillfiles.substack.com/p/escape-the-95-welcome-to-247
love it
Thanks

There’s a lot of crap online
People believe it’s the reality
95% is just fake
This is an absolute blast of fresh air.
Talking of air, do you ever get to that stage where you feel like you’re not even breathing properly?
This can be through excitement or stress.
It’s really hard to switch off. Part of that is the ride, part of it is the fear.
Either way, it’s a rollercoaster that most people around you aren’t tall enough to ride yet.
Glad it resonated
That burnout was back in 2017ish
Since then no more panic attacks
What's your damn point?! Building any business comes with those.
"Soloprenuer" is older than cave dwellers and it's become the new "buzzword" lately instead of "influencer".
Guess changing platforms doesn't seem to stop the algorithm chasers.🤨
