Great post. I started out with paid content on my new pub and then withdrew it because of the very advice you mention. Will get it back up this weekend.
Giving away too much vs giving away something has always been a great dilemma. I appreciate your views but I didn't like some part of your post because you don't expect someone who doesn't know you would start paying from day 1. To establish a relationship first is important. That being said, I totally agree that giving away too much for free will attract wrong audience.

Glad to hear that, Deb.
Keep me posted on how it goes
This is good advice, but hard for me, as a humor writer, to apply. Isn't it weird how everyone likes to laugh, but few want to pay for it?
Hi Jennifer
Yes this was definitely geared towards non fiction writers
Too late for me to ask for payment from Day One. I'm on week 68. Too bad I can't rewind!
You can start from week 69.
Well crafted Matt. I appreciate how you framed it: insight vs instruction. I’ll put that into action a I relaunch with this foundational strategy.
Glad it resonated with you, Larry
I needed to read this. Thank you, Matt!
🫡 (and thanks for the share)
Spot on! Definitely learned this one the hard way 🤪
Better late than never :)
Ok, Matt, this is great - can you tell us HOW to do this? Thank you.
You can get some applicable insights from this article.
Else my advice applies "sorry this is for paid clients" – haha
