Interesting debunk of writer's block. We don't say cook's block or CEO's block. They just get on with the job.

I can get a lot of stuff done quickly and easily...when I've got it in my head what I need to do, like the steps. Most times, it's because I've done them before, I've got a process. "Blocks", for me, come when I just flat out don't know what to do next, when I don't have a process. People talk all the time about the necessity of having systems and for me, the systems are what help me keep moving. Great article, thanks!

Thanks for these tips, Matt! One question: when writing headlines, does it matter if they're short or long?

Expand full comment

keep in mind they’re truncated on mobile :)

Me: watching who's going to put into action what they learned from Matt's article.

Also me: shit! better put these into practice!

Those last sentences really hit me Matt. :)

Regarding laziness, it's always something else hiding behind it. There's no laziness on it's own, you either don't see value in doing something, or you are overwhelmed or you're just tired. Or any other thing you gave in the list.

This days, what captures people attention is the hook of a content

With the short attention span of most people, what can make you click on a video or content here is if the hook is kinda going to entertain you, teach you something or sparks interest.
