Great stuff, Matt. I love your tips about standing out, especially write like you talk and go on a rant. 💯

Really appreciated and resonated with this Matt - thank you for writing it! As someone new to Substack and new to sharing my writing with 'the world' (ie, my tiny list), I still fall for playing the comparison game. I'm also sick to death of the "overnight millionaires" online. I'm 99.99% sure they don't exist. But it's still hard to drown out the noise. All I can do is keep plugging away!

glad to hear it was helpful!

The comparison game is a mental cancer.

I knew it, Matt, just hadn't quite diagnosed that the "comparison game is mental cancer" and "the thief of joy." Thanks for putting words to it!

Compete but don't compare.

People's situations are too different for me to compare anything I'm doing to what they're doing.

The competition is always Me vs ME.

Matt, the 3-5 year perspective is honest and liberating. I feel that you gave me permission to forget the navel gazing and simply engage in writing often online. I am seeing your point on the email list. All the blurbs from online coaches are pointing to this. Thank you for the helping hand up the mountain.

This article was perhaps as truthful as any I have ever had the privilege to read. I want to thank the author for doing an outstanding job of covering the truth whether it be difficult to accept or not. I wish I had this information three years ago when I first starting writing but alas much of it came to me through the school of hard knocks. I enjoyed reading this and will be saving it as one of my most favorite reads. Again, thank you very much!

Figure out what the hell you’re doing is always the issue because I'm too busy competing against myself. Thanks for all the tips.

I love *how can I be better than I was yesterday?*

It clinched the essence of the blinders you put on when taking your journey.

Great stuff.

Thanks again for the pep talk. I’m all ears (and eyes)!
